Getting Started with OS X
Whether you are new to computers or just new to OSX, It’s important to learn the basics when using your Apple computer. Apple’s operating system is called OSX. As of today, the latest version of OSX is called Yosemite. Prior to Yosemite was Mavericks, Mountain Lion, Lion, Snow Leopard, Leopard, Panther and Jaguar. There are more before this but we’ll stop there. With each updated Apple has made many advancements in the OSX’s use and features. Although many improvements have been made, the core of it’s function is still the same. We will be reviewing general topics that are applicable to even the oldest version of the OSX as listed above.
The Desktop
After turning on your computer, the first thing you’ll see is the desktop (unless you’ve set a password for your profile). You can think of the desktop as the main workspace for your computer. From here, you can view and manage your files, open applications, access the internet and much more.
